Abstract

Swarthmore College’s ’To Zero by Thirty Five’ project involves the construction of a geothermal exchange plant to provide heating and cooling to campus buildings. This report follows the implementation of the project and the impact of building envelopes on the effectiveness of the system. Groups of potential upgrades and their impacts on building performance were analyzed using integer linear programming and the PuLP python library. This analysis provides recommendations on which buildings to upgrade according to the priorities of Swarthmore College.
