Abstract
Currently on campus, students are completely unaware of the status of study rooms around campus. Time wasted on walking laps around Singer, peering into rooms in Cornell, or using a meal swipe in the DCC could be utilized productively doing time-sensitive work and studying. Students will be able to see the availability status of study rooms to make their days more efficient and alleviate current frustrations by using a sensor suite mounted inside study rooms, in conjunction with a live-time database. The current campus space management system lacks visibility into real-time sensing data. Our sensor suites have not been deployed, but this project will hopefully act as motivation to demonstrate need and desire from the student population for a more permanent, comprehensive solution. In the future, the school could join together 25Live and a space management dashboard with the HVAC and facilities systems.
