Abstract
DeBerry sets for himself a staggering array of challenges: attempting at once to generate a new psychology rooted in quantum theory in physics, to describe the historical drift toward postmodernism as it undermines self-conception, to criticize legal and market practices in contemporary culture, and to square all these accounts with an ecological-systems conception of human well-being. Although consistently thoughtful, passionate, and provocative, the sheer magnitude of the challenge prevents the volume from reaching full efficacy. The interested reader should also consult Louis A. Sass's Madness and Modernism (CH, Mar'93). Advanced undergraduate through professional.
