Abstract
Social constructionism has served as a guiding theoretical perspective for many of the narrative therapies that have emerged over the last twenty years. As a result, such therapies have become highly sensitive to issues of power, multiple and conflicting realities, and expanding the arena of collaboration. To provide a more effective means of confronting these issues, we offer here a conception of reflexive cooperation as both an ethical and practical stance within psychotherapeutic exchanges. Two clinical case examples of reflexive cooperation illustrate its potentials, and offer a basis for a discursive vocabulary of reflexive cooperation.
