Abstract
Reviews the book, Psychology, Sin, & Society: An Essay on the Triumvirate of Psychology, Religion, and Democracy by M. Munawar Butt (see record 1992-97825-000). The present volume is a member of a small but enormously valuable genre of work in psychology, specifically, scholarship that takes self-reflexive account of disciplinary practices--their place within history and culture, their successes and failures, and their effects on cultural life more generally. This book suffers from certain stylistic shortcomings.
