Abstract
Reviews the book, Personality Psychology in Europe: Theoretical and Empirical Developments edited by Han Bonarius, Guus Van Heck, and Nico Smid (1984). This volume includes 25 chapters in English, and the authors represent 13 different nations. The book is divided into six parts, beginning with discussions of the social context of personality, moving on to the problem of traits, and then to trait-situation interactionism. The section titles are sufficient to inform the American reader that the offerings will not be foreign. One of the major feature of the collection is its pervasive concern with situation-person interaction.
