Abstract
Reviews the book, Malpractice in Psychotherapy by Barry R. Furrow (1980). Furrow proposes an expanded model of malpractice for the mental health professions. He argues that greater judicial regulation of psychotherapy is needed both to protect the public and to stimulate improvements in the field. Furrow makes his case in three parts. First, the shortcomings of the mental health professions are described. The second section of the book outlines the duties of psychotherapists, as specified by case law. In the third part of the book, a model of strict liability for the mental health professions is proposed.
