Abstract
The recursive paradigm is a central theme in discrete mathematics. Through examples, this paper explains the paradigm and provides some ideas for approaching the material with students. Repeated use of the phrase “Suppose We Already Knew” and the acronym SWAK help drive the paradigm home.
