Abstract
The humanistic principles of bhakti and sufi (Hindu and Islamic philosophical and devotional practices) that are central to Indian aesthetic theory of bhava (earthly emotion) and rasa (aesthetic emotion) provide an alternative to Eurocentric thought about human consciousness and intentionality.
