Abstract
Conservator Wood, an experienced biologist of Florida wildlife, offers a compendium of information on 11 species and three groups (e.g., bats) of endangered or threatened animals in Florida. His primary focus is on management of these animals, and his writing style is aimed at professionals. For each animal or group there is a brief identification, description of behavior, and habitat description. Most recommendations rest on the experience of the author and his colleagues with published work cited where available. There are 30 black-and-white photographs and a short bibliography for each chapter. A useful appendix summarizes the relevant laws pertaining to these animals. Because the author gives detailed information on trapping and otherwise capturing the endangered animals, his book seems unsuitable for general or undergraduate libraries. The book will be most useful primarily in professional and graduate-level library collections emphasizing Florida wildlife.
