Abstract

In this section, we will be discussing the politics of diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. We will read selections from Sarah Ahmed's "Living a Feminist Life" and "On Being Included," as well as selections from Walter Benn Michaels' "The Trouble With Diversity." Having familiarized ourselves with some well known theoretical approaches to diversity politics in academic settings, we will use analyze DEI initiatives across the Tri-Co to evaluate the work that is being done locally and to assess its successes and shortcomings.
