The Chinese Section of the Modern Languages & Literatures Department offers a range of courses in Chinese language, literature, and culture which are integrated into a broad program of Asian Studies at Swarthmore College, with further offerings in language, history, culture, and society in the TriCollege community. Students of Chinese are particularly urged to take courses on literature, culture, and film as a means of gaining perspective on both traditional and modern Chinese culture, spanning over two millennia from early times into the contemporary. Students of Chinese can take advantage of a rich environment for language study, including intensive introductory language courses, language tables and chat hours with native speakers, multimedia resources, and opportunities for study abroad.
