Abstract

We diastereoselectively synthesize η-4 iron(0) tricarbonyl diene complexes with the use of the oxazolidinone chiral auxiliary. The main focus of this project is to induce cyclizations via three synthetic pathways: the intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction, ring-closing enyne metathesis, and the gold(I) catalyzed methoxycyclization. Although we do not succeed in inducing these cyclizations, we demonstrate the compatibility of the iron(0) tricarbonyl complex with gold(I), and chromium(II) reagents.
