Abstract

Reviews the book, Psychological Perspectives on the Self, Vol. 2 edited by Jerry Suls and Anthony G. Greenwald (1983). The present papers offer an excellent sampling of current work. The authors are among the most productive contributors to the domain, their work is carefully forged, and their previous works have been widely cited. The volume itself is divided into three sections on the following topics: self-appraisal, self-consciousness, and the self and personality. Although considerable talent and effort is reflected in the individual chapters, the volume as a whole is considerably weaker--The whole is less than the sum of its parts.
